This policy explains what the Le Poulet app collects, why we need it, who else can see it, and how you can get rid of it. We only collect what it takes to cook your order and get it to you.
Who we are
The Le Poulet restaurant operates this app and is responsible for the information in it. The app itself was built and is maintained for us by Progressive SARL. Anything below that says “we” means the restaurant.
What we collect
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your phone number | It is how you sign in — we send a code to it over WhatsApp — and how the restaurant or the driver reaches you about your order. |
| Your name | So the counter and the driver know whose order it is. |
| Delivery location — the map pin you set (coordinates), the street/area we read back from it, and any building, floor or note you add | To work out the delivery fee for your distance, to know whether you are inside our delivery area, and to actually find your door. Only collected when you choose delivery; pickup orders never ask for it. |
| Your orders — items, options, notes, prices, any deal applied, and the time of each status change | To prepare and deliver the order, to show you your order history, and as our own business and accounting records. |
| Notification token — an anonymous identifier for your device | To push you order updates (accepted, on the way, delivered) and, if you leave notifications on, occasional offers. It is not tied to your contacts or anything else on your phone. |
| Basic app and device details — app version, platform (iOS or Android), OS version, language and time zone | Sent with each request so we can debug problems and know which app versions are still in use. |
| Staff accounts — an email address and password for restaurant and driver staff | Only for people who work with us, to sign in to the counter, driver and dashboard modes. |
What we do not collect
- No payment card, bank or wallet details — the app is cash only.
- No advertising identifiers, no third-party ad or analytics trackers, no cross-app tracking.
- No access to your contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
- No background or continuous location. Location is read once, only while the app is open, only when you are setting a delivery address, and only if you allow it. You can refuse the permission and still pan the map to your spot by hand.
How we use it
- To take, price, prepare, and deliver your order.
- To sign you in and keep your session on your device.
- To send you the status of an order you placed, and offers if you have notifications enabled.
- To keep our own records of what was sold, for accounting and tax.
- To look into problems, abuse, or fraudulent orders.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
Who else sees it
A handful of service providers process data on our behalf so the app can work. They are only allowed to use it to provide their service to us:
- Google Firebase Authentication — verifies who you are and holds your phone number and sign-in identity.
- Twilio — delivers the WhatsApp message containing your sign-in code, so your number is passed to them to send it.
- Expo push notifications — passes our notifications on to Apple and Google to reach your device.
- DigitalOcean — hosts our server, database and images.
- Apple Maps and Google Maps — draw the map you use to pick your delivery spot.
Our drivers see the name, phone number and address for the delivery they are carrying, and nothing else. We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your profile — while your account exists.
- Orders — kept as accounting records, including the name, phone and address captured at the time of that order, for as long as the law requires us to keep business records.
- Notification tokens — removed when you sign out, delete your account, or turn notifications off.
- Sign-in codes — expire two minutes after they are sent and are deleted the moment they are used.
Your choices
- Delete your account at any time: Profile → Delete account. That removes your profile, your saved addresses and your notification tokens, and your sign-in identity is deleted. The past orders themselves stay in our accounting records, as described above.
- Turn notifications off in Profile, or in your phone's settings.
- Refuse location access and set your delivery spot on the map manually instead.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it — call either number below.
Keeping it safe
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted. Signing in requires a code sent to your phone — there is no password to steal — and staff accounts are limited to the mode they need. Access to the database is restricted to the people who run the restaurant's systems. No system is perfect, but we treat the small amount of data we hold as if it matters, because it does.
Children
The app is meant for people old enough to order and pay for their own food. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, call us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or why, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
